Alderhoard is a free browser game. Play it, enjoy it, tell people about it. These terms exist so that both of us know where we stand.
Who is offering this
Alderhoard is run by Scott Covert, trading as 5 Keys Lab, in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. There is one person here. You can reach him at [email protected].
What you may do
- Play the game, as much as you like, at no charge.
- Link to it, including to any individual level. Direct links to every level are published deliberately on the every level page.
- Record it, stream it, put it in a video, write about it, and keep any money you make from doing so. No permission is needed and none has to be asked for.
- Take screenshots and use them when writing about the game. The press kit exists for exactly this.
What you may not do
- Republish the game, in whole or in part, on another site or in an application as though it were yours.
- Sell the game, or sell access to it.
- Strip the artwork, the sprite sheets, the sound or the code out of it and use them in something else.
- Attack the site, hammer it with automated traffic, or try to falsify the leaderboard.
The game, its code, its artwork and its writing are copyright Scott Covert. Nothing on this page grants a licence to any of it beyond what is listed above.
The free tier is a real one
Alderhoard is being built in public, and a large part of it is open right now because it is being built, not because it has been promised forever. Four commitments are fixed and will not be walked back:
- Four arcade cabinets, the ones standing in the open in the valley.
- The Warlord quest, start to finish.
- At least forty Stonebreaker walls.
- At least ten 3D Waka levels.
Those are floors, not totals, and they can rise. Beyond them, things that are open today may close later, and the every level page says which. Nothing is behind a payment today.
Your saved progress
Your progress lives in your own browser and nowhere else. It is not backed up, it cannot be transferred between devices, and if you clear your browser storage it is gone for good. Nobody, including me, can restore it. Treat it as what it is: a score on a cabinet in an arcade, not a document in a vault.
The leaderboard
The public board is opt-in and covered on the privacy page. Entries that are abusive, or that impersonate somebody, or that are obviously falsified, get removed without notice and without a conversation.
The game will change under you
This is a work in progress that ships almost daily. Levels get added, renamed, rebalanced and occasionally retired. A wall you liked may play differently next week. No part of the game is guaranteed to stay as it is, and the site may be unavailable at any time without warning.
Liability
The game is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss arising from using it, including lost progress, lost time or a browser that fell over. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply in it.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
