TEXT ADVENTURE GUIDE BUILD IN ALDERHOARD · THE TEXT GAMES

Same universe, one extra page. Most people building in Alderhoard make their own kind of game, in their own style: the valley, the Warlord, the arcade. That starts on the main page. This one only adds the extras for writing a text adventure.

THE TEXT ADVENTURE GUIDE

for text games set in ELDSEAM, the Alderhoard universe

Every game in the library is a self-contained story. None of them are truly separate worlds. This guide opens the shared mythology — the wanderer, the phrase, the feather, the number, the door — so you can build your own text adventure inside it: your genre, your era, your game, one more room of the house.

WHAT'S WHAT. ELDSEAM is the universe, and it is free to use (CC0). ALDERHOARD is the game it came out of, at alderhoard.com. The canon lives in one public repository: github.com/scottcovert/alderhoard-open-world. Older names — the Spindle, the Thread, Grishnak — are retired, and old scovert.com addresses now send you here.

SPOILER WARNING — this document explains marks the games deliberately never explain. If you'd rather feel the floor tilt on your own, go play first.
